Once the judges have selected four finalists in each category, the industry gets its say. That’s where you come in. The public serves as the seventh judge, contributing one-seventh of the final score for each finalist. This vote adds a broader industry perspective to the expert evaluations — honoring not just technical achievement, but community impact.
Meet the Seven Judges
Six Experts, One Public Vote, One Final Verdict
Each LUMY entry is scored by six diverse independent judges with deep expertise in design, engineering, specification, and distribution. Products are evaluated using a structured rubric focused on performance, innovation, usability, and design impact.
The final voice? It’s shared. The public serves as the seventh judge, contributing one-seventh of each finalist’s score through open voting.
This hybrid model blends professional rigor with community insight — ensuring winners reflect both technical excellence and industry relevance.
Meet the Seventh Judge: The Public
The Process
Entries are evaluated using a clear set of criteria designed to reflect today’s technical, design, market, and sustainability standards. While not every criterion is equally relevant to every product category, the rubric provides a structured framework — one that’s brought to life by each juror’s unique expertise and perspective.
Every product submission is reviewed thoroughly and in randomized order to ensure fairness, focus, and objectivity.
The result: thoughtful, balanced evaluations that recognize true innovation.
